Title designs with character
In collaboration with the world-renowned AIGA medal winner Pablo Ferro, I helped create these major motion picture opening title sequence designs.
Doctor Dolittle | Opening Title Sequence
Over 200 hours of work (for only a few seconds of footage) was required to develop a unique font composed of animal silhouettes. The industry took notice. We are published in the book Type in Motion by Jeff Bellantoni & Matt Woolman for our efforts on this project.
Bones | Opening Title Sequence
The development of a font created from hand drawn lines for use in the motion picture Bones, starring Snoop Dogg features rough lines, and their eventual separation, coupled with a zoom effect and morphing graffiti background which acts as a teaser to this horror film.
Psycho | Opening Title Sequence
This project was a re-development of a look originally created by the late Saul Bass for Alfred Hitchcock’s film Psycho, released in 1960. In tribute to Mr. Bass, the remake, starring Vince Vaughn and Anne Heche, utilizes opening titles identical to the original design.
Beloved | Opening Title Sequence
This Jonathan Demme film starring Danny Glover and Oprah Winfrey required a unique font treatment which possessed a haunted feel. The main title design, as well as all subtitles consist of a hand-lettered font with a distressed look, indicating the mood of this dark drama.
Winchell | Opening Title Sequence | Set props
To immerse the viewer in the world of Mr. Winchell, this opening title sequence features audio of typewriter keys striking in time with the appearance of a typewritten font. We also created all of the historic set props used in the opening titles sequence which include magazines, newspapers and many small print items.
